All of our UK web hosting accounts have a "main" e-mail account (or mailbox) already set up, with the same username and password as the website hosting account itself. Your "main" e-mail account acts as the default or "catch-all" mailbox for all mail sent to your domain name, unless you choose to override this using the Default E-mail Address option in your Control Panel. This means that all mail sent to anything_at_all@yourdomain.co.uk will end up in your "main" mailbox unless there is a specific mailbox, forwarder or autoresponder set up for this address.
If you prefer to keep things simple then your "main" mailbox is the only mailbox you need use.
To access the "main" mailbox for your account, your e-mail program should be configured to use the following information:
Incoming (POP3) mail server: yourdomain.co.uk (where yourdomain.co.uk represents your own domain name) Username: Your normal web hosting account username Password: Your normal web hosting account password
For your outgoing (SMTP) mail server setting we recommend that you continue to use your ISPs own SMTP mail server. See Do you provide an SMTP mail server? for an explanation of why this is the preferred setting.
You should also use your normal web hosting account username and password (as included in your Welcome E-mail) if you wish to access your "main" mailbox through Web Mail.
