» How long will it be before my site can be accessed using my domain name?
If you chose to register a new domain name through Efficient Hosting then you will be able to access your site using this domain name after a 24-72 hour delay. Whilst we will register your domain name within a few hours of your order, it will take a day or so for the details of your new domain to propagate across all of the Internet.
Also, some ISPs update their DNS tables less frequently than others which makes the delay dependent on which particular ISP you (or each of your visitors) are using to access the Internet.

In the meantime, you can fully access your UK web hosting account using the temporary address given in your Welcome E-mail.

If your domain is still not working after 2 full days, please contact us and we will double check that it is set up correctly.

There will be a similar delay if you are arranging the transfer of a domain name you already own (by having your registrar point it at our DNS servers). Once your registrar has changed the DNS server records for your domain, there will be a propagation period of 24-72 hours whilst the update spreads across all of the Internet.
If you are transferring a UK domain name and it should be necessary to update the IPS Tag, the transfer can take as long as a week to go through, or even longer if your existing registrar is not cooperative.
See How do I transfer an existing domain to Efficient Hosting? for a more detailed explanation of the recommended domain transfer procedure.

In most cases, you can begin work on your website straight away using a temporary address in place of your domain name.
